Travel demand to Jordan is recovering at a faster pace than industry forecasters had expected, with US and European tour operators reporting strong advance bookings for the autumn 2026 season. The uptick marks a significant shift after a difficult 2025, when regional instability in neighbouring countries suppressed both independent and group travel to the Levant.
What Operators Are Reporting
Travel Age West’s latest outbound data shows that Jordan bookings from US travel advisors are running approximately 28% ahead of the same period in 2025 and are back to within 8% of 2023 levels - a year widely treated as the pre-crisis baseline for regional travel. UK and German tour operator data shows a similar trajectory.
The recovery is concentrated in the classic Jordan itinerary: Amman, Petra, Wadi Rum, and the Dead Sea. Aqaba, which has benefited from its Red Sea diving and beach offer as an alternative to the Sinai and Gulf resorts during the disruption period, is also holding its demand gains even as the broader regional picture improves.
Why Autumn Is Jordan’s Best Season
September through November is widely considered the ideal window for visiting Jordan. Summer temperatures - which regularly exceed 35°C in Wadi Rum and Petra - have broken by mid-September, dropping to comfortable highs in the low-to-mid 20s°C. The golden afternoon light at Petra’s Treasury and the rosy sandstone of Wadi Rum are at their most photogenic in October.
Petra itself is far more manageable at this time of year: summer crowds thin considerably after the school return period, and the major sites - the Siq canyon, the High Place of Sacrifice, the Monastery trail - are walkable in comfort without the intense heat management that July visits require.
